Privatisation : Experiment To Boost Economy ?

                     Meaning of Privatisation

It means a transfer of ownership, management, and control of public sector enterprises to the private sector.

As the definition of privatization is so very diverse let us take a look at the three main features of privatization.

  1. Ownership Measures: The ownership of all public enterprises ultimately shifts to private owners. The denationalization can be complete or partial.
  2. Organizational Measures: This is where we limit the control of the state in public companies. Some methods include holding company structuring, leasing. restructuring of the enterprises etc.
  3. Operational Measures: Public organizations and companies were running into huge losses. So the efficiency of these companies was to be increased.

PUSH OF PRIVATISATION IN ANNUAL BUDGET 2020-21:
The government will maintain a bare minimum presence in only four strategic sectors, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in her budget speech. The four sectors are

  1. atomic energy, space, and defense;
  2. transport and telecommunications;
  3. power, petroleum, coal, and other minerals
  4. banking, insurance, and financial service
She said,

“In four areas, a bare minimum number of firms will be retained and the rest will be privatized. In other sectors, all firms will be privatized,”

The list comprises public sector banks (PSBs) and insurance companies and will be its first following the government's ambitious drive to privatize PSUs, as announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Budget 2021. This would clear the way for the Centre to go ahead with its Rs 1.75 lakh crore disinvestment target for the next financial year.

PROS AND CONS OF PRIVATISATION:

Does Privatization Make Sense?

Whether privatization makes sense or not is not easy to answer. There are so many factors that play a role in this discussion and all the pros and cons of privatization have to be evaluated on an individual basis.

Only then will it be possible to make profound decisions that can benefit the general public in the long run.

5 Causes & ways to overcome "Recession"

   What is an Economic Recession? A recession is a significant decline in economic activity spread across the economy, lasting more than a few months, normally visible in real GDP, real income, employment, industrial production, and wholesale-retail sales. A recession begins just after the economy reaches a peak of activity and ends as the economy reaches its trough. What are the factors that causes economic recession ? Loss of Confidence in Investment and the Economy Loss of confidence leads consumers to stop buying and move into defensive mode. Once a critical mass moves toward the exit sign, panic sets in. Retail sales slow. Businesses run fewer employment ads, and the economy adds fewer jobs. Manufacturers cut back in reaction to falling orders—the unemployment rate rises. To restore confidence, the federal government and the central bank must step in. High-Interest Rates When interest rates rise, they limit liquidity, which is money available to invest. In the past, the biggest cu

Naxalism- A Threat or Taboo ?

 Recently on 3rd April   2021 Sukma-Bijapur attack  was an ambush carried out by the Naxalite-Maoits    insurgents  from the Communist party of india   against Indian security forces on 3 April 2021 at Sukma-Bijapur border near Jonaguda village which falls under Jagargunda police station area Sukma   district  of Chattisgarh , leading to the killing of 22 security personnel   and 9 Naxalites .  The death toll was the worst for Indian security forces fighting the Naxalites since 2017. Now Let Us Understand What Naxalism Is. The term Naxalism derives its name from the village  Naxalbari of West Bengal. ORIGIN : While the origins of  Naxalism  in India go back to the Telangana peasant rebellion (1946-51), the movement was at its peak in 1967, when the peasants, landless laborers, and Adivasis raided the granaries of a landlord in the Naxalbari village in West Bengal. This rebellion was suppressed by the police force, which consequently led to the Naxalite movement under the leadership of
